Well, outlining is a spriters enemy. I've been making sprites like crazy trying to practice for the job .

First off, you need a program. I'd reccommend MS Paint, or one of the free versions of Photoshop. But MS Paint'd probably be better.

You can then try to teach yourself, but there's also a bunch of tutorials you can get. Right Here.
